A man from Blackpool who sexually abused two young brothers in the mid-1970s has been jailed.
Allan Atkinson, 61, of Daventry Avenue, Bispham, was jailed for eight years after being found guilty of eight sex offences against the youngsters following a trial.
The pervert committed the offences between 1974 and 1975, when they were aged between 10 and 13.
He was sentenced at Preston Crown Court last Friday, and was also given a sexual harm prevention order.
DC Alan Gale of Lancashire Police said: “Atkinson used his position as a family friend to groom his two young victims and took advantage of their vulnerability, subjecting them to appalling sexual abuse over a prolonged period of time.
“I am pleased that he has been brought to justice for his crimes and I hope the fact that he has now been sentenced will enable the victims to move forward with their lives.
“This case demonstrates how seriously we take allegations of sexual abuse, regardless of how long ago the offences took place.
“We are determined to bring perpetrators of abuse before the courts while ensuring that victims are treated with the utmost sensitivity and professionalism throughout.
“We would urge anyone who has been the victim of a sexual offence to come forward and contact us.”
