A father lost his temper when he could not see his son so he threatened to shoot his former girlfriend.

Paul Simpson called his ex vile names and told her over the phone “you are going to die. Enjoy the last five months of you life. I’m going to come down and shoot you.”

Y&ou are going to die. Enjoy the last five months of you life. I’m going to come down and shoot you

Simpson, 37, formerly of Ribble Road, Blackpool, now living at Jackson Court, Cotebridge, Motherwell, denied harassment and damaging a front door but was found guilty of the offences after a trial in his absence.

He was sentenced at Blackpool Magistrates Court to 12 months community order with up to 20 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service and ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £150 court charge, £150 costs plus £60 victims’ surcharge.

Hugh Pond, defending, said Simpson had left his ex for another woman five years ago. Since then his ex had persistently refused him access to his son. Simpson admitted he was upset about that.
