A former soldier hit his girlfriend over the head with an ironing-board during an argument.
Ryan Singleton also grabbed his ex by the hair and dragged her round the room before leaving with their young son.
Singleton, a 21-year-old gardener, of Sidford Court, Blackpool, denied assault but was found guilty of the offence after a trial.
He was sentenced to 12 months supervision and ordered to pay £100 costs plus £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Philip Hall, prosecuting, said the ex was packing her suitcase for a holiday on July 22 at 12.35pm. There was a row and Singleton dragged her round the room . He then hit her over the head with an ironing-board. Singleton grabbed their young son and left, but later brought him back.
