A security firm manager was almost four times over the alcohol limit after being stopped by police for driving erratically in the afternoon.
Keith Miller had 127 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 is the limit.
Miller, 42, of The Green, Eccleston, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
He was bailed for pre-sentence reports with all options including custody to be considered by Blackpool magistrates.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police received a report a Mondeo was being driven erratically on the M55 heading towards Blackpool on January 17 at 4.30pm.
Steven Townley, defending, said: “He had a drink and in a moment of madness decided to drive to Blackpool to see his girlfriend. He is probably going to lose his job as a result of this offence.”
