Pub bosses will have to wait until the New Year to find out if a controversial plan to reign in licensing hours is to go ahead.
But Blackpool Council’s licensing committee has agreed to adjourn the hearing until January or February after lawyers acting for the pub and club industry argued there had been a “wholesale failure” to give interested parties enough notice that the meeting would be taking place.
Lancashire Police has applied for the EMRO because it says action must be taken to curb booze-fuelled violence in Blackpool in the early hours of the morning.
An initial hearing had been due to be heard in September.
Coun Adrian Hutton, who chaired today’s meeting, said: “It’s got to be third time lucky or there’s going to be a lot of problems for a lot of us.”
