A MAN ranted at his girlfriend and struck her on both sides of the face after drinking eight pints of lager.
Andrew Swarbrick, 41, formerly of Highbury Road East, St Annes, now living at Webster Avenue, Marton, pleaded guilty to assault.
He was bailed for pre-sentence reports with all options including custody to be considered by Blackpool magistrates.
Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said the couple had been together five years and went to the Lord Derby pub in St Annes on December 12.
Swarbrick had drunk eight pints of lager and his partner decided to leave him and head back to their home in St Annes.
When Swarbrick returned she made a comment suggesting he had drunk too much.
He started ranting, leaned towards her until they were nose to nose and then struck her to both sides of the face causing redness and a cut below one eye.
When interviewed by police Swarbrick said on a scale of one to 10 of feeling drunk, he put himself at 10.
Stephen Duffy, defending, told magistrates Swarbrick had no memory of the evening, but said his partner would not lie and he immediately admitted the offence.
