A drunk repeatedly swore at police and told them to ‘go and sort out some drug dealers’.

James Smith, 29, of Breckside Close, Poulton, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

Adrian Hollamby, prosecuting, said a woman contacted police to say her partner had turned up drunk on November 26 about midday. Police went to Dalton Avenue and saw Smith.
When asked what had happened Smith repeatedly swore. Told that if he did not stop behaving badly he would be arrested Smith said he did not care.

Smith told magistrates he had a drink problem but he was getting help from specialists. Since the incident had not touched a drop. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £150 court charge with £85 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by magistrates.
