Blackpool Magistrates' Court

Blackpool Magistrates' Court

A roofer was so drunk he went to throw a wooden bar stool but hit himself on the head with it instead.

Carl Heaney also hit a man on the shoulder during a fracas in a pub.

Heaney, 36, of Foxhall Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was fined £200 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said a visitor from London went into Blackpool’s George Hotel and Heaney started shouting abuse at him on March 13. Heaney hit the visitor on the shoulder, but caused no injury.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had drunk a lot of alcohol and took objection to the visitor talking to two girls Heaney believed were under 18.
