Blackpool Magistrates' Court

A man was more than twice over the limit when he stopped his van in the middle of the road with its hazard lights flashing.

Matthew Hall, 46, of Cannock Avenue, Bispham, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 20 months and fined £110 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police received a tip-off and saw Hall’s Ford Transit van stopped in the middle of London Street, Fleetwood, with its hazard and headlights on on April 28 at 2.45am.

A breath test showed 82 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 is the limit.

Hall told magistrates: “I am really sorry and deeply ashamed. I was on medication at the time.”
