A Blackpool woman has been jailed for six months after she was found with a stash of drugs.

Michelle Alvarez, 34, of Salmesbury Avenue, Bispham, was sentenced to six months in prison at Preston Crown Court after pleading guilty to possession with
intent to supply amphetamine.

The offence took place on November 30, last year, when Alvarez and an accomplice were stopped by police officers on Dinmore Avenue, Grange Park.

Following a search of their vehicle more than a kilo of amphetamine and £3,000 cash were found.

As well as the drugs charge, Alvarez was also sentenced to six months, to be served concurrently, for money laundering.

Det Con Phil Palmer, of Blackpool CID, said “This was not someone in possession of a small amount of drugs for their own use.

“This was a couple fully involved in the drugs trade, transporting large quantity of drugs and sizeable amounts of money on behalf of
others

“We will not tolerate the spread of drugs in the
Blackpool area, and will continue working hard to catch and prosecute all those involved in the manufacture, distribution and sale of drugs”
