A plasterer drove home after he had been drinking at a family New Year’s Eve party.
Ben Slaney, 21, drove his van along Bispham Road.
He hit a parked car which in turn crashed into another vehicle.
Slaney of River Road, Thornton, drove off after the accident but he was followed by a witness who contacted the police.
Slaney was convicted of drink driving after a trial. He was more than twice over the limit after drinking lager and vodka.
Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client’s business would suffer because of the inevitable driving ban.
Slaney was banned from the road for two years, ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work for the community and ordered to pay £60 victims surcharge and £650 court costs.
