An advertising executive collided with a lamp post and then left the scene of the accident on Easter Monday.
Daniel Almond was tracked down to his home by police and found to be over the alcohol limit.
Almond, 23, of Cornwall Place, Marton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £200 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Alison Quanbrough, prosecuting, said police went to the scene of an accident on North Park Drive where a Ford Focus had collided with a lamp post on April 6 at 3am. Officers found the car abandoned and tracked Almond, the vehicle’s registered keeper, to his home. A breath test showed 55 micrograms of alcohol in his body – the limit is 35.
Howard Green, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, thought he had swerved the car to avoid something in the road.
