A drink-driver crashed a convertible into the base of a railway bridge under repair after missing signs stating the road was closed.
Luke Ashton, 25, of Little Acre, Thornton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
He was banned from the road for 17 months and fined £250 with £85 costs plus £25 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Andrea Fawcett, prosecuting, said Ashton drove a BMW convertible along Tithebarn Street, Poulton, at around 11pm on March 8.
He was taken to hospital and found to be twice the legal alcohol limit.
Ashton told magistrates he had been extremely stupid.
He had been going to get a lift home but foolishly set off in his car to get a takeaway, and had not drunk alcohol since the incident.
