A dad had his eight-year-old daughter in the car when he drove while over the alcohol limit.

Wayne Richardson, a 30-year-old salesman, of Westcliffe Drive. Layton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £205 with £85 costs plus £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police saw Richardson driving a Corsa on Dinmore Avenue on July 31 at 4.30pm. Officers described his driving as erratic and said he was speeding.

When stopped, he said he had had three pints of lager. A breath test showed 40 micrograms of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.

Steven Townley, defending, told magistrates Richardson, who had been to the pub and then to pick up his daughter, said he was surprised he was over the limit.
