A couple accused of sending their two daughters to nursery with cannabis covered cookies in their lunch bag have made their first appearance at court.
Hospital tests on the three-year-old and two-year-old sisters are alleged to have shown cannabis in the body of the elder girl.
The mother, a 27-year-old nurse, and the 25-year-old father, of South Shore, who can not be identified for legal reasons, each face two charges of assaulting, ill-treating or neglecting a child.
They are also accused of possessing cannabis.
The offences are alleged to have taken place in Blackpool on May 23 this year.
The mother was bailed by Blackpool magistrates.
The father asked for his case to be heard at crown court. He was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on November 12 by Blackpool magistrates.
