A disgraced former Blackpool councillor who downloaded child pornography has avoided being sent to jail.

Julian Mineur, 59, appeared at Preston Crown Court today where he was sentenced to a three-year community order.

Mineur, who represented the Greenlands ward from 2007 to 2011, was found guilty at trial earlier this year of three counts of making indecent images of children and a further two counts of possessing indecent images of children.

He has also been ordered to sign the sex offenders register and pay £1,000 in costs.
