POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace after a 16-year-old boy was headbutted on a street in broad daylight.

The shocking attack, on Victoria Road West, in Cleveleys, happened when a man, in his early 60s, approached the boy as he was crossing the street and shouted abuse at him.

The victim shouted back, and the man then headbutted the boy causing him an injury to his mouth. The boy sought help at a local shop but despite a police search of the area, his attacker was not found.

It is believed the offender – who had grey receding hair and was wearing black clothes – escaped in a taxi.

Police have just released an image of a man they want to speak to in relation to the attack, which took place around 2.40pm on Wednesday, July 18 .

They are particularly interested in speaking to the taxi driver, or anyone else with information about the identity of the man.

PC Catherine Britton said: “This was an unprovoked assault on a young boy and anyone who can help can call police on 101.”
