CCTV clue in hunt for club raiders

These are the men police are hunting in connection with a break-in at a social club which caused more than £1,000 worth of damage.

Bosses at Fleetwood Working Mens’ Club, on the port’s Warren Street, are hoping the footage – released this week – will help bring the men to justice.

The raiders ransacked the premises in the early hours of Monday, March 9, and stole more than £500.

Also captured in the CCTV picture is the car in which the two men were travelling.

The incident happened between 2am and 5am.

The burglars made off with the cash after trashing the main office and breaking into four fruit machines.

But the stolen cash was dwarfed by the huge amount of damage caused in the break-in.

The thieves smashed up the premises – including its CCTV system – destroying six door frames and the four fruit machines.

They even emptied dozens of bottles of expensive spirits over the fruit machines in a bid to destroy fingerprints, leaving the bottles on the floor.

A senior member of staff at the club, who did not wish to be named, said: “We are a fairly small club and this raid hit us badly. They could have just broken in and taken the cash, but they caused way more damage than they needed to. We would like to see them caught.”

Officers say the break-in appeared to be well-planned.

Sgt Chris Sanderson, of Fleetwood Police, said: “This appeared to have been a pre-planned offence, and the suspects have clearly taken the time to do a lot of preparation.”

Anyone able to help identify the men in the picture, or the car, should call 101, quoting log number 0126 of March 9.
