A strong smell of cannabis put police on the scent of a stash of drugs near a hot tub in a Blackpool garden.
When officers searched around Scott Perrett’s home on Horncliffe Road, South Shore, they discovered £260 of cannabis, plus £400 of cocaine.
Cash, digital scales and snap seal bags were also found.
Preston Crown Court heard Perrett had been addicted to drugs since the age of 10 and had intended supplying friends with cannabis, in order to subsidise his cocaine use.
Perrett, 21, appeared for sentence yesterday, having admitted the possession of cocaine and also possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
He was handed a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, with an order to carry out a 100 hours of unpaid work.
He will also be on a six month curfew which will run from 10.15pm until 7am each night.
Police visited his home on September 3 last year while they were making inquiries into a burglary at his former workplace.
They uncovered a green tin that contained drugs, scales and cash.
Janet Ironfield, defending, said: “He had begun to experiment with drugs when 10 years old. He was addicted by the age of 10 or 11.
“He has not touched cannabis since the date of his arrest and has all but stopped his cocaine use.”
