THOUSANDS of pounds of cannabis has been seized form a man attempting to flee a police stop check.

The man ran away carrying a large plastic bag after the car he was travelled in was stopped by police on Rigby Road, Blackpool, on Thursday.

He was detained by police and over half a kilogram of cannabis was found in the bag.

A subsequent search of a house on Alexandra Road revealed a large sum of money, drugs paraphernalia and a large number of Valium tablets.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and a 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

All three have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
