Just days before a Blackpool special school was due to reopen it’s doors after the summer holidays it was targeted by burglars.
Thieves smashed a window and climbed into Highfurlong School, on Blackpool Old Road setting off the alarm.
Police said the thieves managed to help themselves to a Lenoxo laptop in black and grey, that was used by staff.
The break in took place on Monday shortly after 8pm.
Rosie Sycamore, acting headteacher said: “Luckily the laptop that was stolen was very old and for use by staff.
“The burglars smashed a window and entered the building setting off the alarm.
“They have clearly been opportunists. It’s disappointing someone would target the school but luckily they did not get away with any equipment used by the children.”
A spokesman for Lancashire police said: “Burglary is a serious offence and we will do everything we can to find out who is responsible. I urge anyone with information should call police directly on 101.”
