A witness spotted a teenager breaking into a shop from which £800 of cigarettes and cash were stolen.
Ryan Mann was caught nearby with a carrier bag containing 300 cigarettes.
Mann, 19, of General Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to burglary.
He was bailed for pre-sentence reports with all options including custody to be considered by Blackpool magistrates.
Philip Potter, prosecuting, said an alarm on the African Caribbean supermarket, King Street, sounded and a witness saw Mann and anther man go into the shop on October 11.
Mann was apprehended nearby and claimed another person had sold him the cigarettes. He said the £140 he had with him he had collected earlier from the bank.
The shop owner said between £300 and £400 cash had been taken from the premises during the burglary.
Suzanne Mugford, defending, told magistrates Mann said it was an opportunistic theft.
Mann said he did not take any cash from the shop, only cigarettes.
