Boy, 12, grabbed by man

POLICE are appealing for information after a 12 year old boy reported being grabbed by a man as he walked to his friend’s house in Blackpool.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Sunday December 6 when the boy was walking down Hawthorn Road. As the boy walked past a small garden wall, a man grabbed him around the waist. The boy managed to turn around and punch him in the face before running away.

The man is described as white, around 20 years old, approximately 5ft 5in tall, skinny build and was wearing a black tracksuit with grey trainers and a black cap with a grey peak.

DC Sarah Moyes of Blackpool CID said: “This is obviously a concerning report and our enquiries into this incident remain on-going. If anyone was in the vicinity at the time and saw what happened I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.

“Although incidents such as these are rare, I would like to take this opportunity to remind children to be on their guard and to be wary of anyone they don’t know. We would urge people to report any suspicious activity to us straight away so that we can carry out a thorough investigation.”
