A Blackpool solicitors is celebrating after earning a top accolade in the Oscars of the legal world.

Blackhurst Budd was the only Lancashire practice to be shortlisted in the prestigious Law Society Excellence Awards 2014.

And, after impressing the judges, the Edward Street firm was Highly Commended in the Lexcel Award for Excellence in Practice Management.

The award recognises legal firms which operate to the highest degree, meeting every industry standard expected by the Law Society.

Blackhurst Budd Managing Director Warren Spencer said it was a huge honour to be recognised in awards that celebrate the brightest stars in the legal profession.

He said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the team at Blackhurst Budd. Very often The Law Society just announces a winner, so to have received Highly Commended means they wanted to recognise the hard work of the firm.

“There are also no awards higher than this in the UK for solicitors, so to get the seal of approval from The Law Society is something we are
immensely proud of.

“It really does make us stand out as a business operating to the highest standards and for our clients it means they will only ever receive the best service from us.

“A lot of hard work has gone into this and rather than just having a team of solicitors who practice on behalf of clients, we have invested in much more by introducing a compliance team, a practice administrator and a full team behind all our solicitors to ensure our clients get the best possible service on every occasion.”

Blackhurst Budd was only able to apply for the award as it has consistently received the Lexcel seal of approval from the Law Society each year since first awarded it in 2010.

Warren added it was an important nod of approval for high street practices and solicitors across the Fylde coast.

He explained: “Blackpool and the Fylde Coast have some great law firms and I am delighted to say that Blackhurst Budd has received national recognition for its continued commitment to clients and the wider community.”

The award is the latest for the team who earlier this year became the first Fylde Coast legal firm to get Wills &
Inheritance Quality Scheme accreditation. Previously it has achieved the Silver
Investors in People Award and Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation.
