A man accused of slashing another man’s throat from ear to ear with a craft knife has made his first appearance in court.

David Townsend, 55, of Park Road, Blackpool, is charged with attempted murder.

The offence is alleged to have taken place at an address in Chelford Avenue, Layton, Blackpool, on June 23.

Defence lawyer, Trevor Colebourne, said his client would plead not guilty to the offence.

Townsend was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 23 by Blackpool magistrates.
