Bar thief stole two handbags

Blackpool Magistrates Court

Blackpool Magistrates Court

A MAN who stole two handbags from women in a Blackpool bar was caught by police as he tried to hide the contents.

David Little, 41, of Scorton Avenue, Marton, admitted stealing one bag which contained a mobile phone and camera valued at £250.

He also admitted the theft of a second bag containing a phone valued at £250.

Blackpool magistrates heard Littlehad been seen acting suspiciously in the town centre.

When police later received a complaint about the stolen bags they found Little as he tried to hide items from the bags.

Brett Chappell, defending, said his client was now drug free but on the night of the offence had been drinking heavily following the death of his father.

He said: “He cannot remember anything he did that night but accepts he did steal the bags.”

Little also admitted shoplifting six cans of deodorant from a Co-op store and asked for two other shoplifting offences to be taken into consideration.

He was jailed for 18 weeks.
