A MAN was caught driving while disqualified for the 10th time after forgetting to put his lights on.
Ryan Gorman was stopped on St Walburgas Road in Layton in the early hours of November 15 last year.
A breath test showed he was over the drink drive limit – with 59mg of alcohol in his body where the legal limit is 38 – and he was also driving without a licence.
The 23-year-old, formerly of Aiken Court, Kirkham, but now living at Watson Road, South Shore, had nine previous offences of driving while banned and two of drink driving.
At Blackpool Magistrates’ Court yesterday he pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol while disqualified and without insurance.
Malcolm Cartwright, defending, conceded his client had an horrendous driving record and said on the night in question he had been drinking before agreeing to give someone’s friend a lift.
He added Gorman had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
Magistrates sentenced him to 18 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and he was put on 12 months’ supervision, ordered to pay £80 victims’ surcharge and banned from the road for four years.
