Arrests made in cannabis bust

Blackpool Magistrates Court

Blackpool Magistrates Court

FOUR people are set to be hauled before the courts after they were charged by police in connection with the discovery of thousands of cannabis plants in Kirkham.

Officers uncovered the drugs factory – containing growing and harvested cannabis plants – after they raided a large industrial property in the town on Friday.

Today, police confirmed two men and two women had been formally charged.

Tony Carroll, 58, Danny Willbourne, 27, both of Fossee Way, Thrussington,
Leicestershire, Janet Dias, 31, and 42-year-old Ann Nues, both of no fixed address, are all now due to appear before the courts in connection with the discovery in the Fylde market town.

All four are facing one charge of being concerned in the production of cannabis.

They will appear before Preston Crown Court on February 14.

Police raided the industrial property, on Blackpool Road, Kirkham, on Friday and discovered cannabis plants in varying stages of growth.

In total, 2,500 plants were found by officers.

There was also a room full of harvested cannabis in the premises.
