A woman has been arrested by police on suspicion of starting a fire which destroyed a Blackpool home.
Close to 30 firefighters from three Fylde coast fire stations were called to the blaze on Monday night in Midgeland Road, Marton.
Firefighters battled for more than an hour to bring the fire under control, with gutted the three-bedroom chalet.
Today it was confirmed a woman was arrested at the scene by officers, while a spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue revealed an investigation had been launched into the cause of the fire.
He said: “We were called to the incident around 7.40pm.
“We initially sent two fire engines but it went up to four fire engines when we realised the severity of the fire
“Crews from South Shore, Blackpool and St Annes attended, with between 25 to 30 firefighters at the scene.
“Crews used two jet reels and two hoses to put the blaze out, which stopped around an hour later.
“The home was left destroyed. We believe the fire was started deliberately.”
Crews left the scene around 10pm, with fire crews returning yesterday morning to check the fire had not built up again. A fire investigation team was also expected to visit the property to look at the cause of the fire.
