Armed police who swooped on a property in South Shore after reports of a man armed with a handgun have stood down their operation.
Officers were called to an address on Station Road at around 9.45am on Friday.
Armed police were on scene, with marked police cars blocking off the road and a police helicopter overhead.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “Police attended an address after reports that a man was inside a property and could be armed with a handgun.
“Police methodically searched the property to establish if there was anyone inside.
“The search has now been completed and no trace of anyone has been found. The cordon has been lifted.”
