Police are hunting for a knife-wielding robber who burst into a Blackpool off-licence and threatened a lone cashier.

Detectives are today appealing for witnesses following the robbery at Beech Wines, in Beech Avenue.

The offender ran into the shop and confronted the female cashier with a knife, before demanding money from the till.

He then leaned over the counter and stole around £320 before running off down Newton Drive in the direction of Church Street.

The cashier, who is aged in her 30s, was shaken but unharmed in the incident at 8.40pm on July 4.

The offender is described as white and aged 25 or younger.

He covered his face with a bandana but was wearing a distinctive blue North Face jacket with a pocket on the front and the North Face logo on both the front and back.

Det Sgt Chris Sanderson, from Blackpool CID, said: “I would ask people to take a close look at the CCTV image and if anybody recognises this man or has any information that could assist with our investigation I’d urge them to contact us on 101 quoting log reference LC-20130704-1449.”
