HARASSED residents have called for action after months of abuse from youths.
Homeowners in Knott End claim yobs are reigning terror in the area, smashing windows, shouting abuse and loitering in an alley near their homes.
One resident, who did not wish to be named for fear of reprisals, said: “I am fed up of feeling threatened in my own home.
“We are woken at all hours by youths who have been drinking late at night shouting obscenities in the street.
“And I am forever picking up empty vodka bottles and litter, I even had to pick up a syringe the other day – I didn’t want a small child standing on in it.”
Locals say there is not enough police presence in the area and they do not feel safe in their homes.
Eric Ollerenshaw, MP for Lancaster and Fleetwood, has pledged to support the aggrieved residents in Over Wyre.
He said: “No residents should have to cope with this and I have been in touch with the police on the matter.
“In general I would say Knott End is one of the quieter areas in my constituency but that does not take away the importance of this issue. I hope to hold further meetings with police and Wyre council’s licensing authority to make sure the issues are dealt with.”
Lancashire Police said they were working with residents to resolve issues.
