Fleetwood’s RNLI and coastguard teams were called out to find a missing man last night.
Around 8.45pm, police contacted sea rescue teams after concerns were raised about the male.
A Fleetwood police spokesman said: “Police were alerted regarding the welfare of a male on the beach at Fleetwood walking further from the shore.
“Coastguards quickly joined the police officers at scene but due to very poor visibility with persistent heavy rain, the exact location of the male could not be ascertained.
“The police helicopter assisted in locating him and guided rescuers and both Fleetwood lifeboats to his location.
“Our thanks to the dedicated services of our volunteer coastguard and lifeboat crews for their professional assistance ensuring the safety of all concerned. A top team effort with a successful outcome.”
The man was checked by paramedics and taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.
