No further action will be taken against a councillor accused of misconduct.

Coun Pete Murphy, Wyre Council’s economy portfolio holder, was investigated after it was alleged he made “indiscrete comments” and tried to “corruptly” influence other members’ decision making on separate occasions.

A report to Wyre Council’s standards committee says there was insufficient evidence to prove the
allegations, made by Coun Roger Brooks.

It said he apologised for “over-enthusiastic” comments made ahead of a planning meeting on May 7, when he was accused of trying to influence members’ decision making.

The second incident involved comments made that allegedly put a council officer in “an embarrassing position”.

This was not proven.
