Blackpool Council is aiming to help train up the tennis coaches of the future with a new course.

With interest in the sport high following Andy Murray’s victory at Wimbledon, two ward councillors – Coun Lily Henderson and Coun Chris Maughan – are already helping to fund junior tennis sessions at Highfield Park.

Now the Tennis Activators Workshop – to help people interested in coaching to spread tennis into existing sports clubs and holiday camps – is taking place on August 5 at Blackpool Sports Centre. Call (01253) 477477.
