A costume designer to the stars is set to bring Hollywood glamour to brides in the North West with the launch of her bespoke bridal design business in Bispham.

Morgan Farrar has created costumes for many Hollywood stars, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Sir Ben Kingsley, Emily Blunt and Gemma Arterton, and for sellout theatre productions including Singin’ in the Rain, 42nd Street and Beauty and the Beast. Now, with the launch of her dress design business studio in
Bispham, Morgan, 29, will also be designing for brides and bridal parties who want bespoke made to measure outfits for their wedding day, as well as continuing to work on commissions from theatrical and interiors clients.

She graduated from the noted Scarborough costume design course and worked for UK Productions in Blackpool on pantomimes and touring shows.

She said: “I won student of the year award and the prize was to work making costumes for movies.

“I have worked on Brideshead Revisited, Wolfman, and Prince of Persia doing the costumes for Gemma Arteton and Sir Ben Kingsley.

“I did costumes for Michelle Pfieffer in Cheri, in which she played a courtesan and needed a lot of extra
costumes.

“I met my husband James when I was touring with Beauty and the Beast and decided to settle in Bispham to launch my business, which is something I always wanted to do.”

To help her get started she got a loan from BFS Start Up Now, the North West arm of the Government’s national £150m Start Up Loans programme, delivered by Business Finance Solutions.

She said: “I’ve had an incredible career as a costume designer, working with some of the best actors and directors in the world, but I’ve always had a real desire to have my own business and, thanks to BFS Start Up Now, the time is right for me to make the most of all my design and dressmaking
expertise.

“My bespoke service is also individually tailored to each client, from design conception and completion to a wedding day personal dressing service.

“Brides today want to be unique – they want that one- off design and we can create dresses to reflect their wishes, drawing on influences from their favourite movies or eras in fashion.

“Launching a new business can be daunting so being able to access the low interest business loan and to work through my business plan with the team at Business Finance Solutions really helped me to focus on building a business that I can grow organically and start to create jobs locally.”
