Some will say it has made a change seeing celebrities doing something different than skating, dancing, arguing with everyone else in the house or roughing it in the jungle.

The grand final – or watery end, depending on your point of view – of ITV reality show Splash!, saw British skiing legend Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards the victor, cheered on by Olympic medallist Tom Daley.

The series, hosted by Vernon Kay and Gabby Logan, could be returning for a second outing, but retired swimming teacher Pauline Nicholls (nee Merrill), of Carleton, has been far from impressed with the idea behind the reality programme.
