Roses are red, violets are blue...

Prime Minister David Cameron is set to receive a late Valentine’s card – from anti-fracking protesters asking him just why he’s falling out with the Lancashire countryside.

Campaigners from Freckleton based Frack Free Freck are to deliver a petition against the controversial process to 10 Downing Street on Friday.

They had been due to visit Number 10 on Valentine’s Day, but had to cancel due to the poor weather.

The campaigners will travel to Number 10 with Gayzer Frackman, from another group, Frack Free Fylde, who visits London on a weekly basis with groups from across the country who are opposed to the controversial shale gas drilling process.

Mr Frackman, who changed his name by deed pool from Gayzer Tarjanyi, said: “In four months they’ve achieved a lot making sure that the locals know the dangers of fracking.

“We’ve got as big a card as we can take in, for every group that goes down we’ve got something different and we’ve got support from other groups that will be coming down.” Mick Pearson, from Frack Free Freck, added: “Frack Free Freck’s representatives will take this opportunity to hand deliver a letter to Number 10 Downing Street this coming Friday to voice concerns from the community of Freckleton, against the planned exploration and possible fracking for shale gas on Clifton Marsh by the company Cuadrilla.”

A Cuadrilla spokesman said: “Cuadrilla announced plans last July for a vertical exploration well to the south of Clifton, which would be used to provide information about the quantity and composition of the natural gas locked within the rock. The site would not be hydraulically fractured, and would be returned to its former condition when we have completed our work.”

“There are no immediate plans for this site.”
