Work has begun to restore a dilapidated clock tower and restore the historic landmark to its former glory.
The tower and shelter, which can be found on Victoria Road West roundabout, has been in Cleveleys for decades. It is now part of a community effort to revamp it.
Slates have fallen off the roof, while mould and dust has gathered around the structure over the years.
But now builders have moved on to the site to replace the roof and glass, and those leading the campaign have put a bid for £5,000 into Wyre Council’s Shaping Your Neighbourhood scheme, which aims to provide cash for community projects, to fund the refurbishment.
The rest of the revamp will include replacing all four of the clock’s faces to bring them back to working order.
Jane Littlewood, of Rossall Beach Residents and Community Group, said: “The shingle is being stripped off and it’s being re-roofed.
“There’s one clock in it at the moment, but we want to raise money to replace them all.
“A clock company from Derby is coming to look at it and give us an estimate. The clock hasn’t been working for a long time, and nobody seems to know when it last worked.”
Coun Andrea Kay, Cleveleys Park ward councillor for Wyre Council, added: “This is something everyone wants.
“There’s pictures of it going back years and it’s an iconic building, so we have to keep it and get the money to get the roof done.”
Anyone who would like to donate money to help restore the clock tower can do so by cash or cheque.
Money can be donated by making cheques payable to Thornton Cleveleys Association of Trade and Commerce – they have offered to be bankers for the project.
Residents can also donate cash and hand deliver their donation. Place it in an envelope marked ‘Clock Shelter’ and include your name and address.
Envelopes with cash inside them can be posted or dropped off at the following places:
