What a riot!

Lytham St Annes Technology and Performing Arts College pupils Elise Halsall, Sophia Kember, Ronan Canham and Patrick Greenman don riot gear with Blackpool and the Fylde College lecturers Jason Emsley (far left) and Dean Whitehouse.

THESE pupils had a riot when they spent a day learning about future careers.

LSA Technology and Performing Arts College was host to a variety of local employers as part of its flexible learning day, which gave students chance to get some hands on experience.

Sara Cardo, assistant headteacher at the school, said: “It was an excellent day, there was a real buzz around school from both the staff and students.”

A staged riot let students take on roles of riot police and another group acted as the rioters.

Sophia Kember, a year eight pupil, said: “It was so much fun. We were police officers with riot shields and helmets as the rioters throw pretend petrol bombs.”

The pupils at the Worsley Road school in Ansdell were also invited to take part in a crime scene investigation task and exercises in marketing and project management.
