This is the first look at a new multi-million pound veterinary practice for Wyre, which could be open by the summer.

Norcross Vets expects to open its £2m surgery in the next six months - 28 years after its first premises opened.

Following seven years of planning, the two-storey Norcross Lane surgery is taking shape to provide six consultation rooms, accommodation for vets and nurses, an isolation room and hydrotherapy pool for animal rehabilitation.

Andrew Milne, managing director of the vets, which already has surgeries in Cleveleys, Fleetwood and Stalmine, said: “We want better facilities for pet owners in the area and better facilities for vets.

“We have been expanding for the last 28 years and have grown steadily in that time.

“The isolation unit is going to be very important because if we have sick animals we can keep them away from the rest.”

The vets has been on the site for 18 months and were there well in advance of the builders, who moved on to the land next to the former DWP Norcross building 10 months ago. The 20 members of staff, including six vets, are currently based in cabins on the site while the main structure is built.

However, the centre remains open seven days a week to cope with demand.

Mr Milne added: “Since we moved to this site we’ve got an awful lot busier because the practice is a lot bigger.

“The increase is downto more people knowing where we are and seeingthe investment we are putting in.

“Hopefully we will be around for years to come.

“The project started seven years ago but there’s no doubt we will be moving out of the cabins and into the premises this year.”
