Staff and pupils at a Bispham school have paid moving tributes to a much-loved lollipop man.

Kincraig Primary School’s David White died peacefully on Wednesday June 18 in hospital.

He was 78.

Headteacher Karen Appleby said: “David was a lovely man.

“He was very much part of our school team and he will be greatly missed by staff, children and parents.”

A long time worker at Blackpool Transport, David worked within the community for decades and was very well known.

In his later years he decided to focus on being a lollipop man and enjoyed his time at the primary school.

Staff spoke of his friendly manner and how they will miss him waving every morning to everyone who came into the car park.

Mrs Appleby said: “The site supervisor who was very close to him and myself will be representing the children and staff at the funeral.”

His partner of 15 years, Julie Wright said: “He was loved by all really, before Kincraig he did the school buses at St Bede’s in Lytham and made such an impact on the pupils, a lot of them are coming to the funeral.

“Everybody knew him and he got to see the kids grow up over the years and keep in touch.

“He absolutely adored his job and loved going into work every day.

“Since he passed we’ve received so many messages and flowers, the response and condolences have been overwhelming.”

Both funeral directors and family are expecting a huge turn-out for the funeral which will be held at Carleton Crematorium on Monday July 7 at noon.

His family have requested wellwishers wear colourful clothing and football jerseys.
