A Blackpool foster carer who has spent nearly three decades looking after vulnerable youngsters has been given an award for her dedication.

Liz Cousins, 58, is a carer with fostering agency Foster Carer Associates (FCA), with her husband David, and her efforts have been recognised officially with an FCA award.

She was presented with her certificate by FCA ambassador and ex-England footballer Mark Wright at a special ceremony.

Liz said: “My parents fostered when I was little. I remember us having three Polish boys. When they came to us, they were so scared and I watched them over the years and saw their lives completely change for the better. I always knew I was going to become a foster carer.

“If you can be part of making such a major difference in a child’s life it really is great.”
