Plans for a Punch and Judy museum look set to get knocked on the head for a second time.
Entertainer Martin Price wants to open the attraction in the basement of his Blackpool hotel.
But planners look set to throw out the scheme when they meet today because it entails building an extension which it is claimed would be out of keeping with the rest of the street.
Mr Price, who performs Punch and Judy shows across Lancashire, wants to put his collection of Punch and Judy memorabilia on display at the Pelham Lodge Hotel on General Street .
The project also includes converting a dining room to tea rooms, extending rear guest rooms and a front extension to the lobby.
The museum would be in the basement of the building.
He said: “The council has told me they are in favour of a Punch and Judy Museum but don’t want me to build forward to make it a statement on the street.
“But nobody in the surrounding area has complained, and the whole aim is to make it exciting rather than just a normal B&B frontage.
“I have had discussions with the planners and compromised on the plans but they still want to refuse it.
“But it would be the biggest Punch and Judy collection in the country to go on display so Blackpool will be really missing out if it is turned down.”
The proposals have been recommended for refusal by the planning committee. A report says “by virtue of its height, scale and projection, it is considered the extension would present an overly large and dominant feature.”
