Olympic stars Rebecca
Adlington and Steve Parry have officially opened a new £3m health club near
Garstang.

More than 100 guests were at the opening of the new Acresfield Health Club and Spa, based on the A6 at Cabus.

And Olympic medallist
Rebecca announced that Acresfield had been chosen to be part of her new Swim Stars programme, which aims to teach youngsters how to swim. She said she was impressed by the quality of the new building and by the attention to details which the Ward family, owners of the new club and of the adjoining Residential Park Home Estates, had brought to the project.

“I wish I lived closer
because I would definitely
become a member. The facilities are second to none.” she told guests at the event.

The new club includes a swimming pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and a hall known as The Arena, which is dedicated to sports such as badminton and indoor bowls. There is a state-of-the-art gym on the upper floor. The
complex has created 25 jobs.
