Sainsbury’s has now started fitting out its new, £19m store, which is due to open in Blackpool in July.
Shepherd Construction, which has been building the new supermarket since January last year, officially handed over the site last week.
Around 270 jobs have been created from the scheme, which is part of the first phase of the Talbot Gateway Central Business District.
A petrol station has already opened.
Store manager Ian Collins said: “The opening of this landmark foodstore is not only a fantastic achievement for Blackpool, but a brilliant opportunity for Sainsbury’s.
“To open a store of this scale in the heart of Blackpool, in an area which is undergoing rapid regeneration, is a real coup.
“During the final stages of construction we will be working hard with the local community to make sure that we are supporting key initiatives in the local area.”
Jim Harkness, project manager at Barr Construction, which is carrying out the refit, said: “We are really looking forward to playing such a pivotal role in bringing new life to the Talbot Road area.
“Barr Construction has a significant track record of working with Sainsbury’s to deliver fantastic new retail facilities, and bring real benefits to the local communities we operate within.
“This project is no different, and we will work closely with Sainsbury’s to involve the local community every step of the way, and deliver a store local people will be proud of.”
When it opens the store will include a cafe, a dentist’s and Timpson’s shoe repairs, plus a 600-space car park.
