DOCTORS were right when they told Sophia Brooks moving to the seaside would help her health.
Sophia celebrated her landmark 100th birthday yesterday, after moving to the coast for the health benefits of fresh sea air.
Mrs Brooks, and her late husband Wally, were followed from Manchester by friends and family, all keen to cash in on the coastal air, when they moved to Bispham back in the 1960s.
Now, Mrs Brooks proudly presides over a large family in the area, who threw a party in her honour.
More than 30 family members, including nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and her goddaughter joined in with celebrations.
Mrs Brooks, who had no children and is the last surviving of 10 siblings, now lives in Annacliffe Care Home, Blackpool.
