Sad farewell to tragic Harry

Harry Jones, 20 , of The Knowle, South Shore, who died on January 13.

Harry Jones, 20 , of The Knowle, South Shore, who died on January 13.

A MOVING farewell has been paid to a student found dead in a Blackpool home.

Hundreds of family and friends gathered at Lytham Crematorium to pay their final respects to Harry Jones, 20, who died on January 13.

The former Blackpool and The Fylde College student, of The Knowle, North Shore, was found unconscious by his friends at an address on Garton Avenue, Blackpool, after a party.

Lorraine Jones, Harry’s mother, paid tribute to her son during the service in a eulogy read out by Reverend David Phillips.

She said: “He was engaging, polite, affectionate, annoying, talkative, curious, interfering, loud, the life and soul of the party, enthusiastic, opinionated, clever, passionate, outgoing, frustrating, but he was caring and loving.

“Sadly, there was another side to Harry.

“All those who knew him will know he was battling with his own demons.

“He thought he knew it all and he was invincible. The tragic thing is he was not and he has broken so many hearts of the people he has left behind.”

The talented Creative Media Production pupil was preparing his application to study Journalism at university, and his creative skills were touched upon during the service.

Mrs Jones added: “No doubt Harry is up there now filming this, his big day, planning his edits and his post-production effects and would certainly have secured some loud speakers, snow fall and a big screen outside, so no-one missed a thing.”

Police believe Mr Jones, who was in his second year of college, took a lethal dose of drugs and said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

An inquest was opened and adjourned on January 16 to allow toxicology tests to be carried out.
