Motorcyclist dies after road collision

A biker has died after his motorcycle was in collision with a car this afternoon.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was riding a Suzuki bike when his vehicle and a Jaguar X-Type Estate collided on Amounderness Way in Fleetwood, between the Nautical College and Morrisons supermarket, Cleveleys.

Amounderness Way, between West Drive, Cleveleys, and Fleetwood Nautical College, Fleetwood, was closed by officers at around 1.20pm today following the incident.

The driver of the car received minor injuries and was treated for shock.

Sgt Dave Hogarth, of the Road Policing Unit, said; “This is a tragic incident where a man has sadly lost his life.

“I would like to thank those who tended to both the motorcyclist and the driver of the car prior to the arrival of the paramedics.

“I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to get in touch with police.”

Police are carrying out an investigation and the road is expected to re-open around 8pm.
