Traders have joined forces to hold an outdoor summer market which they hope will put Bispham back on the map.
The Seaside Summer Extravaganza will be held on the forecourts of shops on Red Bank Road, and will include stalls, attractions and entertainers.
It is hoped the event, on Sunday August 10 between 10am and 3pm, will draw the crowds in to benefit all the businesses in the area.
Gary Pretty, chairman of the Bispham Traders Association, said: “All the traders have agreed this is a good thing and are allowing their forecourts to be used.
“There will be a good range of stalls, and it will have a seaside theme. We hope it will boost trade and let everyone know where Red Bank Road is.”
It is the first time shops in the area have got together to hold an event like this.
The Sainsbury’s store is providing free parking for visitors to the summer market.
Jayne Hart, of Hart’s Amusements, one of the organisers, said: “The aim is to help put the FY2 area back on the map and the summer market is just the first event taking place that should help increase footfall in Bispham and boost trade to the local businesses.
“These are only small steps, but fingers crossed the impact proves to be quite substantial.
“I have been delighted with the interest so far and with the support.”
The event will also support the Angel Appeal which is raising money for 11-year-old cancer sufferer Angel Gregson to have treatment in America.
